“Sue was great! She was informed and passionate about the topic and even took us on unique field trips. Please host this course and professor again.” – Bates College Student

Since childhood, Sue Inches has envisioned a world that is com-passionate, inclusive and environmentally aware. This vision guided her throughout her schooling and a 25-year career in public policy. She served as Deputy Director of the Maine State Planning Office and as a Program Manager at the Maine Department of Marine Resources. Signature policy issues she’s worked on include fisheries, land use planning, smart growth, building and energy codes, renewable energy, energy efficiency, working waterfront access, community finance, and rural broadband.

Sue now works as a speaker, writer, educator, and environmental advocate. She helps people find their power, and provides them with the tools and guidance to address current environmental issues. She teaches advocacy at several colleges, and remains actively engaged in advocacy work. She serves on the board of Defend Our Health, the steering committee of the Pine Tree Amendment, and the policy committee for Our Power. She writes a monthly newsletter focused on positive developments in the environmental field.

Sue’s recently released book is Advocating for the Environment, How to Gather Your Power and Take Action. It is available online and in bookstores everywhere. She holds a BA in Human Ecology from College of the Atlantic, and MBA from the University of New Hampshire.
